About Grassroots Westmoreland
Grassroots Westmoreland is a community-powered nonprofit serving Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
We connect neighbors with practical support, shared resources, civic education, mutual aid coordination, and opportunities to take action together.
Our work is rooted in dignity, access, nonviolent community-led action, and the belief that people are not problems to be managed. People are neighbors.
Who We Are
Grassroots Westmoreland is made up of neighbors, volunteers, organizers, community members, and people who believe Westmoreland County is stronger when we care for one another.
We are not building charity from the top down. We are building care from the ground up.
Our work includes low-barrier essentials, donation coordination, community education, civic participation, resource connection, and practical support rooted in dignity.
What We Do
Grassroots Westmoreland helps move resources, information, care, and community action through Westmoreland County.
Our work includes Free Westmoreland, Care-A-Van, the Community Action Network, Community Contact Points, Community Resource Gatherings, Resource Links, and community education.
We respond based on current needs, available donations, volunteer capacity, partner connections, and the practical realities of community care.
How We Work
Grassroots Westmoreland is volunteer-powered and community-centered.
We try to keep support low-barrier, practical, and dignity-first. That means we respond based on urgency, available inventory, volunteer capacity, partner connections, and what we can realistically move, organize, or share.
We do not promise that every need can be met, but we work to help people find a next step whenever possible.
Grassroots Westmoreland is nonpartisan. We do not support or oppose candidates for public office.
