Volunteer
Grassroots Westmoreland is powered by neighbors.
Volunteers help sort donations, organize essentials, support outreach, assist with events, move supplies, share information, and make community care possible across Westmoreland County.
You do not need to have special experience. If you have time, care, patience, or practical skills to share, there is a place for you in this work.
Ways to Help
Volunteer support can look different depending on your time, comfort level, and capacity.
Sorting & Organizing
Help sort clothing, essentials, donations, and supplies so items are easier to access and share.
Outreach & Events
Support pop-ups, resource tables, community gatherings, donation drop-offs, and local outreach.
Moving Supplies
Help load, transport, carry, deliver, or set up items when volunteer capacity allows.
Behind-the-Scenes Help
Support communication, planning, forms, follow-up, social media, research, or administrative tasks.
Flexible Volunteer Support
You do not have to do everything. You do not have to be available all the time.
Grassroots Westmoreland welcomes flexible volunteer support. Some people help once. Some people help regularly. Some people can lift and move items. Some people can sort, organize, make calls, share information, write, research, or help from home.
We will work with your time, comfort level, access needs, and capacity whenever possible.
What to Expect
Volunteer opportunities may vary week to week depending on current needs, available donations, weather, events, storage access, and volunteer capacity.
We try to keep volunteer spaces practical, respectful, and low-pressure.
When volunteering, you may be asked to help sort items, organize supplies, prepare donations, assist with setup, support outreach, or help with communication and follow-up.
We ask volunteers to respect privacy, avoid judgment, follow safety guidance, and help keep Grassroots Westmoreland spaces welcoming and dignity-first.
